Beer is the world's oldest and most popular alcoholic beverage. It is produced by the fermentation of sugars derived from starch-based material — the most common being malted barley.  However, wheat, corn, and rice are also widely used, usually in conjunction with barley.

The process of beer production is called brewing.

NorChill Coolers are designed to keep your beer at the optimal serving temperature throughout the day or night.  It is very important to make sure that once you chill your beer, you keep it chilled.  Beers that are allowed to get warm, or hot after chilling will sometimes turn sour and "skunk".

The best serving temperature for beer depends heavily on the type of beer you are drinking.

  • Well chilled (7 °C/45 °F) for "light" beers (pale lagers)

  • Chilled (8 °C/47 °F) for wheat beers

  • Lightly chilled (9 °C/48 °F) for all dark lagers, and German wheat beers

  • Cellar temperature (13 °C/55 °F) for regular British ale, stout and most Belgian specialties

  • Room temperature (15.5 °C/60 °F) for strong dark ales (especially trappist beer) and barley wine
